The Sterile Services Department (SSD) at The Friarage Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated person to join our team.
The SSD Assistant role involves working in a fast-paced environment, where quality and precision is vital. Experience in a Sterile Services Department would be an advantage, although full training and support are provided to help staff reach their full potential.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role is the checking and disassembly of instrument sets prior to decontamination, reassembly, packing and sterilisation of surgical instrumentation.
The role is mainly based at the Friarage Hospital, however the successful candidate on occasion may be expected to work at the James Cook University Hospital should the need arise.
Main duties of the job
Within the Sterile Services the person appointed will be responsible for the checking and disassembly of instrument sets prior to decontamination, reassembly, packing and sterilisation of surgical instrumentation.
It is essential that you have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and are capable of working in a service driven by deadlines and turnaround times.
As a team of staff ourwork ethics are, to have an open and truthful system of communication, whereby staff feel they can contribute, the more ideas can be shared, the more productive the team are. Making a difference, focusing on detail and delivering quality.
