As deputy sister/charge nurse you will work collaboratively within our large multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of the endoscopy services.

You will actively engage and train other members of the department and you will support senior management in the effective running of the clinical area.

You will also be responsible for many aspects of staff management to include staff development, assessment of competence and compliance with all HR policies and guidelines.

Senior support will be provided at all times.


The post holder is required to support, supervise and co-ordinate a busy endoscopy unit whilst supporting staff to provide effective, safe, high-quality care.

We are a National Bowel Cancer Screening Centre and a centre of excellence for endoscopy training providing approved training courses for both doctors and nurses.


We are fully JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accredited and at our last assessment the endoscopy team was congratulated for facilitating high quality patient care across all disciplines.

Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.
Assist the Ward/Department manager in maintaining standards of nursing practice.

Carry out and advise/supervise junior staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluating of nursing care, and provide help with the patients personal care.

To ensure the effective use of information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trusts Cyber Code of Conduct.

To co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients within their plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team.

Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
Evidence of continuing professional development and maintenance of a personal professional file
Significant experience at Band 5 level, of which some is to be in a position relevant to the specialty
