About the role
We are looking for a Planning Assistant to join the Media Team within Marketing Communications.


You will work at the very the centre of the marketing team, connecting with channel experts (e.g., social media team), data partners (e.g., Dunnhumby) and our media agency to deliver insight lead media plans.

You'll need to have a passion for marketing, and a desire to help Serve Britain's Customers a Little Better Every Day, through differentiated and innovative media planning


This role would be well matched to someone who is organised, works collaboratively with others, creative, and has ultimately has a passion for the ever-changing Media landscape.

As a team we regularly debate our best and worse media channels as well as the latest industry campaigns and innovations

The Hiring Manager for this vacancy is Sophie O'Sullivan
You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the relevant Lead Campaign Planner to deliver awardwinning campaigns that reach millions.
  • Endtoend management of smaller campaigns to help drive sales and brand affinity throughout the year.
  • Working with our Media agency; Mediacom to build engaging and innovative media plans.
  • To ensure we always support our Brand team by delivering Media plans that match the overall brief and objective of the campaign to the business.
  • Partnering with our Campaign Planning team to build engaging and innovative media plans.
  • Developing relationships with external media owners and other external agencies (i.e., creative, audit, etc.).
  • Working closely with both internal/external insight teams to prove effectiveness of media activity.
  • Ensuring cohesion and alignment across paid, owned and earned channels.
  • Aligning with Mediacom and Campaign teams to ensure all necessary food/product nominations are addressed in each channel of the plan.
  • Working closely with our insight team to set objectives and measure campaign success and driving improvements.
  • Supporting with general campaign management, including briefs, briefings, meetings, and just generally helping the Media team.
  • Staying up to date with media and retail industry news to keep us on the front foot.
  • An appetite to get involved in initiatives that support the wider department.
You will need

Operational skills relevant for this job:

  • Deliver inspiring briefs and feedback
  • Develop impactful omnichannel communication
  • Turn data into actionable insight at all stages of a campaign
  • Craft a distinctive brand positioning

And some other elements you will need would be:

  • Passion for retail and creating excellent Media plans
  • A cando and inquisitive attitude.
  • Creative and curious mind with an appetite to learn and challenge.
  • The ability and energy to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • A strategic and future facing brain.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Experience developing customer comms, preferably in multiple above and below the line channels.
  • Experience managing projects and the ability to multitask and prioritise.

Experience relevant for this job:

  • Experience with project and campaign planning
  • Background in working with analytical and dataled insight
  • Broad knowledge of marketing channels (paid, earned and owned) including specific experience with digital marketing channels.
  • Confidence in presenting to senior stakeholders across a business
