The Opportunity:
We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced individual to take on the role of Head of Health and Safety - Aggregates and Construction Demolition Materials (CDM). In this pivotal leadership position, you will report directly to the Health, Safety and Performance Director, overseeing excellence in health and safety practices within our aggregates sector and ensuring consistently high standards are maintained.
This role offers national coverage, supporting various locations across the UK. The ability to travel is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic health and safety initiatives across all Aggregates and CDM operations under the guidance of the Health, Safety & Performance Director.
- Act as a trusted leader and advisor to senior management members in driving the company's health and safety agenda and implementing long-term strategies.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies for Health & Safety within the division.
- Manage a team of Senior Health and Safety Business Partners and support professionals.
- Collaborate with Functional Leadership Teams and Senior Business Stakeholders to implement and coordinate Health and Safety strategies.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with external stakeholders, including customers, regulators, and other relevant parties.
- Aid in establishing company standards, procedures, and guidelines through employee consultation and input.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Substantial experience in health and safety management, preferably within the aggregates sector or related industries.
- Profound knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly Quarry Regulations 1999, and best practices.
- Demonstrated success in managing and implementing health and safety strategies across diverse teams.
- Chartered status with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), or a willingness to work towards attaining chartered status.
- NEBOSH certification or similar industry-recognized health and safety qualifications.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- An emphasis on fostering inclusivity and prioritizing safety within the workplace.
- Experience in driving behavioral safety practices and utilizing safety digitalization for enhanced safety strategies.
