Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for children and young people in residential care.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans for each child, considering their emotional, social, educational, and psychological needs.
  • Support children in their day-to-day activities, including meal times, personal hygiene, and recreational activities.
  • Act as a positive role model for the children, promoting independence, self-esteem, and positive behavior.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including social workers, therapists, and teachers, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress, behavior, and any significant events.
  • Attend regular training sessions and meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge in working with children in residential care.
  • Respond appropriately to any challenging behavior or crisis situations, following the established protocols and ensuring the safety of all involved.
  • Communicate effectively with the children, their families, and other professionals involved in their care, fostering positive relationships and collaboration.

Requirements:

  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A clear background check and references from previous employers.
  • Relevant qualifications in social work, childcare, or a related field is essential

Job Types:
