The Blood Conservation Practitioner coordinator team lead will lead and support the design and implementation of a comprehensive, highly specialised multi-professional blood conservation service in a wide range of clinical areas.


As well as providing technical and educational support to the intraoperative cell salvage service, the post holder will lead, manage, support, the band 5 blood conservation practitioner, in observation and feedback to registered practitioners and the multidisciplinary team.


The Blood Conservation Practitioner co-ordinator team lead will be expected to demonstrate clinical expertise and provide specialist knowledge which is transferable between acute clinical areas.

Effective communication with all members of the multi-professional team and external agencies is a key part of this role.


To act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism.


To be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner setting the highest standards of care and ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based care for all patients / clients.


To ensure the development of staff members within their team and to the wider multi-disciplinary groups utilising intraoperative cell salvage and patient blood management.
