Clinical Associate Psychologist in Training

London, Greater London, United Kingdom East London NHS Foundation Trust Full time
Are you a psychology graduate interested in a new career progression?

Psychological approaches to health and well-being are increasingly in demand, and we need more professionals who are equipped to offer these to the people we serve.

There is an exciting revolution taking place in health and social care which will change the way services are arranged to support individuals, families and communities.

We are excited to recruit applicants for a newer role in psychology, theClinical Associate in Psychology (CAP).

CAPs will be one of the professions that will help us to deliver the NHS Long Term Plan to meet the psychological needs of residents of Newham who are in a mental health crisis and require inpatient care, their families, carers and non-psychology staff supporting them.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have ties with and a commitment to working in our local area, from those with diverse backgrounds and from people who bring lived experience relevant to mental health work.

CAPs work alongside other psychological professions in partnership with health, social care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE).

They are able to practice autonomously with appropriate support, working within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist.

We also recognise that the assets and strengths of individuals, families and communities are crucial too.

CAPs work in partnership to co-design, develop and deliver a range of psychological interventions to individuals, couples, families and communities.

This advertised post will be embeddedwithin the Newham Acute Psychology Service (NAPS) based at Newham Centre for Mental Health.

Specifically you will be working across the two Triage Wards (Ivory and Ruby) and will support the delivery of psychological service to people experiencing complex, severe and enduring mental health difficulties, their families/carers and multidisciplinary staff teams providing inpatient care.

The aim is to provide timely, accessible and trauma-informed care as well as arrange post-discharge support provision that facilitates recovery and reduces further crises requiring readmission.

This post is part of the NHS Funding Psychological Professions Training Programmes.
