The Role

Are you a vet with good clinical and surgical experience looking for a new adventure? We are looking for a new teamie to take the lead in our small but mighty, proudly independent practice in Weston-Super-Mare. Number of years qualified is less important than exposure to clinical cases and responsibilities, if you have confidence, can be calm under pressure and a positive outlook then we would love to hear from you.

We would love to find a vet who is happy to work in a small close-knit team, and confident to work independently when needed. The practice is a 'satellite' to our large Tier 3 Hospital practice in Wells, where we cover our own out of hours and have a dedicated night nursing team.

What you can expect from a usual working day are a mixture of ops, diagnostic work-ups, dentistry procedures and consults. Standard appointments are 20 minutes long, with 40 minutes for euthanasia's, second opinions, complex cases etc. Admin time is booked out for phone calls, lab reports etc and you get an hour's lunch (time to go for a walk in the park next door or on the beach). You can also expect great support from a fabulous, experienced nursing team (who consult daily), a happy reception team and a highly capable Practice Manager for those admin tasks that we all try and avoid

We feel very fortunate to have a wonderful, friendly client base who are motivated to do the best for their pets and a very low level of complaints (on the very rare occasion we do get them, they are looked after by the Practice Manager to take away any worry).

We also allocate time for regular catch ups and monthly vet meetings with our wider team which is a great opportunity to discuss cases and bounce ideas. At the practice, there are a full range of IDEXX lab machines for in-house testing, laparoscopic surgical equipment, digital x-ray, handheld dental x-ray and use of bronchoscope / gastroscope which you may not expect in a smaller practice.

Although not working physically in the same building as the wider vet team at Nurture Wells, you are only a phone call or WhatsApp message away from a wealth of expertise from Suzy GPCert (SAS) CertAVP (GSAS) CertAVP(ECC),Rachel GPCertSAM and soon-to-be GPCert in Dentistry and Oral Surgery and the rest of our fantastic team, who are always willing to help. The practice ambulance is there to transport patients requiring ongoing hospitalisation.

Our full-time team enjoy a 4-day working week and Saturday's 8am – 4pm on a shared rota (1:3). Although not part of the role advertised, if you enjoy being on call, this is also an option at our Hospital in Wells (with private accommodation) and can be discussed more at interview.

The Package

• £42,000 to £60,000 depending on experience
