Are you interested in women's health issues and keen to develop in your surgical and nursing skills?

We are currently looking to recruit a senior staff nurse to work in labour ward theatre and recovery. You will be working alongside the midwives in the recovery area and labour ward theatres, assisting with operative deliveries, you will be also learning new skills, such as cell salvage and seeing expectant mothers in the enhanced recovery clinic. If you have experience working on a surgical ward or working in theatres that would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job Work clinically as the theatre scrub and recovery nurse. Promote and participate in providing enhanced recovery service provision.

Assist in promoting and developing the theatre service within the Maternity Unit.

Act as an effective role model and motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for department staff.

Assist the team leader to ensure that clinical practices accurately reflect the departmental philosophy and Trust's ICARE value About us The post holder will uphold the Trust's ICARE values.

This requires a thorough understanding of policies and guidance related to, for example: infection control, obstetric-specific care and protocols, clinical governance and safeguarding. Job description Job responsibilities To provide clinical & managerial support to the Obstetric Theatre and Recovery Lead. The post holder will work clinically as a scrub and recovery nurse. The post holder will provide training and supervision for new nurses, midwives and students within the obstetric theatre setting.

Management Essential
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload

  • Demonstrate organisational skills
Qualifications Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) or Midwife or ODP (NMC/HCPC)
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing/midwifery/ODP experience
  • Experience of working in theatres/recovery
Desirable
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload
Ability Essential
  • Willingness to develop the knowledge and skills to effectively nurse acutely ill patients within the maternity setting
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of nursing models

  • Good verbal/written communication in English language
