Crewe, Cheshire East, United Kingdom The National House Project Full time

Exciting Job opportunity:

We are seeking a Practice Lead to join our team at The National House Project (NHP).

  • The NHP is dedicated to empowering young people leaving care, allowing them to lead fulfilling lives.
  • Our approach, designed in collaboration with young people, is based on cooperative and social pedagogical principles, fostering a groupwork approach involving adults and young individuals in and transitioning from care.
  • Using a psychologically informed relational practice framework, young people acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence to establish their homes and create a sustainable support community.
  • NHP assists Local House Projects (LHP) in prioritizing young people in decision-making processes, guiding staff to engage inclusively and empowering young individuals to tackle their challenges.
  • LHPs deliver better outcomes for young people, enhance professional practices, and facilitate a supported transition from care.

To ensure youth involvement at all organizational levels, each LHP appoints two representatives to regional meetings, who then elect representatives for the Care Leavers National Movement (CLNM).

CLNM serves as a platform for sharing ideas, developing practices, and solving challenges, with the Chair and Vice Chair being supported by CLNM Champions who advise the Board of Trustees.

As part of expanding our charity, we have introduced the Deputy Director role and are now recruiting for the Practice Lead position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who believes in the potential of care-experienced young people, advocating for their inclusion in decision-making processes.

  • You will guide LHP staff in creating a supportive environment for young people to transition into adulthood positively, requiring expertise in child development, social pedagogy, and psychologically informed care.
  • Collaboration with CLNM and the NHP team will be crucial in empowering young people at local and national levels.
  • Qualified candidates will possess management or supervisory experience in groupwork settings with young people, along with a strong grasp of the care system.
  • Professional/academic qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Health, or social pedagogy are preferred, as well as current registration with a professional body.
  • This role will be located at the NHP office in Crewe, involving regular travel to LHPs and nationwide meetings.
