World Heritage Site Stakeholder Engagement Officer
Cornwall and West Devon received UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2006 for its mining heritage landscape.

This is an internationally recognised designation relating to 10 geographic Areas across Cornwall and West Devon including key mining heritage Attributes and assets within those Areas.


We are looking for someone to join our small team to help maintain this status by caring for and promoting the Site locally, nationally and internationally, providing stakeholder engagement and communications to support the strategic actions in our published Management Plan.

The role will work closely with WHS governance groups and other partners and stakeholders looking for new ways to promote the brand and build on existing working relationships to seek mutually beneficial collaborative opportunities.


The role will involve provision of formal reporting to governing bodies and partner organisations as well as responding to questions and requests from colleagues, members of the public and wider stakeholders.

It also encompasses day-to-day promotion of the Site via social media and collaborative working with stakeholders as well as longer term project work to help fulfil the strategic aims for the Site as outlined in the Management Plan.

The role is part time (22 hours per week) and can be worked flexibly.

There is an occasional requirement to work evenings or weekends and to attend some meetings in person across Cornwall and West Devon.

You will need to have:

  • Excellent time management skills to manage daytoday tasks alongside longerterm strategic pieces of work
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to create text content and engage appropriately with a variety of audiences via a range of methods
  • Demonstrable understanding of heritage, protected landscapes and third sector organisations.
