Following an exciting period of growth at OHL, we're on the hunt for a
Senior Communications Officer to join our team and take our communications and engagement efforts to the next level.

This newly created role will lead on boosting the profile of OHL both internally and externally.

This will be your chance to make the most of your experience in a place where you will have freedom to implement your own ideas, with mínimal supervision and full autonomy.

You'll be joining an ambitious and proactive team who are looking for someone to embed the communications and engagement function of the organisation, whilst increasing engagement with key stakeholders.

The role is offered part time (4 days per week) and can be worked flexibly Monday to Friday.

However, due to the nature of work, we do require three of the four days to be spent at our offices in Marvels Lane, close to Grove Park Station, South-East London.

We deliver specialist support to some of the most complex patients in the system through our Special Allocation Service contract across all boroughs in South-East London and North East London ICSs.

We also provide a range of services across Lewisham including:

  • Urgent Care Centre at Lewisham Hospital;
  • NHS Health Checks Programme;
  • Home Visiting Service, led by our experienced team of paramedics;
  • Enhanced Care Home Service;

Your new role:


You will work as standalone Communications and Engagement expert to deliver the communications and engagement strategy, drafting, implementing and monitoring communication plans and embedding ways to maximise communication impact.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including Directors, Head of and Operations Managers, as well as external ones. More details in the JD attached.

To succeed you will:

  • Have extensive experience in communications and engagement with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to build trust, respect, and cooperation quickly;
  • Technical experience in drafting engaging, appealing and interactive pieces of communication on various platform
  • Be passionate about providing access to care for patients;
  • Be able to work independently on the briefs assigned.

Hours of work:

  • Maximum of 30 hours per week.
