Senior Communications Officer

The Senior Communications Officer will be a key member of the communications team, supporting the Trust in delivering its internal and external agenda at a time of great change and transformation.
The role will be based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site, with the expectation of providing support at the West Middlesex University Hospital site and outreach sexual health clinics.
Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
The Senior Communications Officer will work closely with the HIV, Sexual & Gender Health and Dermatology directorate, acting as an ambassador.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, management and delivery of a full range of communications and engagement activities to support and align the directorate and the Trust's activities.
The Senior Communications Officer is an integral role within the Communications and Engagement Team, and will be equally embedded within the HIV, Sexual & Gender Health and Dermatology directorate.
- Support two-way communications with patients, families and carers.
- Support twoway communications with staff.
- Maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all other key stakeholders.
- Support charity communications.
Supporting communications with patients includes:
- Creating standardised information boards used on every ward and in every patient bay.
- Managing patient and visitor screens.
- Managing the Trust's website and associated online presence.
- Creating, reviewing and revising a range of information aimed at patients and visitors including videos, patient letters, notifications, targeted leaflets and posters.
- Undertaking campaigns to raise awareness and change behaviour in line with the Trust's objectives, such as #letsbeopen and safety campaigns.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.
Both hospitals provide full clinical services, including full maternity, emergency and children's, in addition to a range of community-based services across London, such as award-winning sexual health and HIV clinics.

The post holder will be expected to establish and maintain good communication and relationships with key stakeholders including staff, patients, public, partner organisations and the media.
You will act as a trusted advisor to colleagues, including senior leadership and the Board and make recommendations on listening to and communicating complex, sensitive and often contentious information with the key stakeholders.
This is a great role to learn about the variety of communications in a dynamic and interesting organisation.The role is pivotal, providing all necessary communications support to the Directorate.
The post-holder ensures the interests of the Trust are represented in a professional manner, and is a suitable ambassador at all times.
Clinical/ operational responsibilities- Coordinate and manage statutory committees including presentations on topics requested and attendance.
- Arrange and Manage stakeholder events and visits, including ownership of associates social medical and news releases.
- Lead of key projects as requires by the directorate or division.
- Attendance at regular stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain stakeholder database and stakeholder contact lists.
- Produce high quality written material and assets across all channels.
- Contribute to the smooth and effective functioning of the wider team.
- Participate in the outofhours oncall rota for the team outside normal working hours, briefing colleagues as appropriate and monitoring social media activity. This may involve attending either hospital site at short notice to coordinate communications work relating to a major incident.
