We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Digital Communications Officer for our client based in the Lisburn area.

KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Digital Communications Officer will work in the Marketing and Communications Unit.

The Digital Communications Officer will be responsible for the development of corporate communications digital activity, the monitoring of social media activity both internally and externally, promote the council through digital communications utilizing the website, intranet and social media platforms.

The Post holder will be required to carry out evening and weekend work in line with the job requirements.

Online reputation management will be of the utmost priority.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Head of Service to develop digital communications for the council, and across council departments, to support the aims and objectives of the council.
  • Create and implement social media campaigns and day-to-day activities, write content for platforms for council messaging and online advocacy.
  • Provide and deliver training and support in relation to effective digital communications.
  • Manage the council's presence on council-owned social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and other similar sites, posting on relevant blogs.
  • Development of the Council's website's interactivity for customer engagement including on-line market research.
  • Develop the creation of e-zines and online customer communications engagement and customer data capture through online activities.
  • Monitoring and measuring the impact of social media programmes and analyse, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximise results.
  • Use web analytics tools to report on trends, developments and web activity to build audience reach.
  • To develop relationships with external partners to develop joined up campaigns where appropriate and build online audience.
  • Manage online reputation management by advising and reporting of any online criticism of the Council to the Head of Service at an early stage.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends online and public shifts in media attention, including external social media sites, community social media and bloggers.
  • Identify and develop blog posts and other materials.
  • Undertake general marketing duties within the Marketing and Communications Unit when required.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post.

Responsibilities - also include;

  • Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of management and personal behaviour, which reflect the core values and behaviours of the organisation.
  • Promote equality of opportunity and access in service delivery and in the employment of staff through the mainstreaming of equality within the Council.
  • Ensure the provision of high standards of customer care across all the services provided by the Unit and promote and manage the service effectively and communicate in a way, which enhances and promotes the public image and overall reputation of the Council.
  • Develop and enhance working relationships with relevant partners and stakeholders to maximise corporate and community planning outcomes and to generate innovation in service delivery.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
  • A third level qualification (for example, an HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4, Degree) or equivalent
1.

  • A minimum of three years' experience in digital communications to include:
  • Digital Communications Strategy, development, delivery, analysis.
  • Experience in web analytics and reporting.
  • Management of social media channels, e.g. Facebook, Twitter and Website, including web development, podcasts, video, imagery, blogs and conducting online market research for digital platform development.
  • Delivering training and support for digital communications/social media.
  • Experience in data capture and the creation of targeted ezines.
  • Experience in a busy PR or Marketing environment including project management.


Where applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1 above, they must demonstrate a minimum of six years' experience as outlined in 1.2 above.


  • Knowledge of content management systems, HTML editing and understanding and analysis of web analytics
  • Understanding of web design, user experience and accessibility guidelines
