Job overview:


Opportunities are available in Care of the Elderly Medicine on the Fairfield Hospital Site for doctors who have completed their foundation training or have relevant experience equivalent to the achievement of Foundation Year 2 competences.


The post holder with be responsible under the supervision of the consultant, for the day to day care of elective and emergency patients.


During your post, you will be assigned to both an educational and clinical supervisor and have regular appraisal with help to build your own portfolio.

Time will also be allotted to attend local weekly teaching as appropriate.

You will be encouraged and expected to participate with other team members to support enhancement of services and undertake audit.


Main duties of the job:

The post holder will work and liaise with colleagues across the multidisciplinary frailty team to ensure appropriate, professional and timely provision of care to patients

The post holder will:
- primary be based on the same day emergency care frailty unit

  • Support consultants and the frailty team with all departmental activities.
  • Develop skills and become proficient in the identification, assessment and management of frail older people
  • Undertake one or more research/Audit/Quality Improvement projects of his/her choosing
  • Commit to developing and improving the frailty service
