Please note this job is for Term time only, 3 days each week (27 hours)


To provide the highest standards and of quality care and education within a professional team for our children and families.


To be part of the day to day running of the nursery setting ensuring that the requirements of all relevant standards, policies and procedures are met.


Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that health, safety and security measures are constantly maintained
  • Have key children and up keep development files on each child for development and educational purposes
  • Work alongside parents and other professionals of special educational needs children, devise support plans with the help of the special educational needs coordinator and implement these into the child's activities within nursery, monitoring and evaluating them on a regular basis
  • Support all colleagues and engage in a good staff team
  • To work in close partnership and to develop and maintain good relationships with parents/carers and other family members
  • To attend out of hour working activities such as staff meetings, planning meetings, training or parents evenings this may include weekends
  • To be flexible with working practices of the setting and be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, for example, preparation of snack, cleansing of equipment, putting out bins, doing the laundry etc. Also flexibility with regards to working in different rooms of the setting to that of your key children as and when required to ensure effective operation of the nursery.
  • Work with other professionals or outside agencies to deliver seamless care and education for children and families
  • To respect the confidentiality of information at all times
  • To develop your role within the team especially in your capacity as a key person:
  • keep children's files up to date including photographs
- complete observations and assessments of children

  • Specific childcare tasks include:
  • The preparation and completion of activities to suit children's individual needs and help them progress educationally
  • Ensure that mealtimes are a time for social interaction and learning, in a relaxed environment
  • Wash and change children as required
  • Providing comfort and emotional support to all children at all times
  • Provide conscientious and effective supervision of the children
  • Interact and engage with children
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the individual needs of children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds or stages of development
  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and appropriate safety standards for the needs of young children

ob Related Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in childcare and education or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Safeguarding training, food hygiene training and paediatric first aid training
preferable but not essential

Salary:
National Minimum Wage (from April 2024)

18-20 £8.60

21 and over £11.44
