At FearLess, we take pride in delivering exceptional services across the Southwest region, and we are excited to announce that we are launching a new therapeutic service for victims and survivors of sexual violence. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join us as a qualified and experienced Counsellor specialising in supporting children and young people.

In this role, your primary focus will be providing a full range of counselling services to children and young people. You will utilise an integrative or play therapy approach based on individual support plans. Creating a safe and supportive environment, you will help children and young people explore their emotions and work towards their personal growth and well-being.

As a Counsellor, your main objective will be to offer ongoing support and therapeutic interventions to children and young people. By utilising an integrative or play therapy approach, you will adapt your techniques and strategies to suit the specific needs of each individual, as outlined in their support plan.

To excel in this role, we are seeking a counsellor who possesses strong qualifications and experience in working with children and young people. Your empathetic nature, combined with your ability to provide confidential and professional support, will be crucial in helping children and young people overcome challenges and thrive.

Main responsibilities and tasks

• Provide confidential and professional counselling services to children and young people who have experienced sexual violence.

• Create a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore their feelings and emotions.

• Collaborate with clients to develop personalized recovery plans using a trauma-informed approach.

• Provide 1:1 counselling sessions to children and young people.

• Direct individuals to group sessions.

• Support the facilitation of peer support groups for young people.

• Work closely with our team of staff to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to support.

• Conduct initial assessments of clients to determine their counselling needs and develop individualised recovery plans.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and ensure that all confidentiality policies are adhered to.

• Attend team meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

• Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to ethical standards and codes of conduct.

• Develop personalised recovery plans based on client needs and goals, using a range of therapeutic techniques.

• Collaborate with other professionals and community organisations to provide coordinated care for clients as required.

• Attend relevant training and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge.

• Complete any other duties as reasonably required by the service manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• A recognised counselling qualification at degree or diploma level (e.g., BACP, UKCP, or equivalent).

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.

• Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.

• A passion for helping others and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

• Must have one year's post qualification experience.
