About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, accountable for the processing area of the operation, leading a team of approximately 100 employees.

In the role of a people manager, responsible for managing, developing, training, and leading the team to ensure achievement of all Daily KPI's. Focus on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

The successful candidate must have a flexible approach to working hours to oversee and lead a department working from early mornings to midnight on a rotating shift pattern and occasionally on weekends.

Main responsibilities include ensuring the smooth running of the processing area to meet production schedules and fulfill customer orders on time and as per specifications.

Collaboration with the technical and engineering teams is essential to maintain quality standards and address productivity-related matters.

Significant communication skills, teamwork, flexibility, and a proactive approach are vital for success to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage Shift Production Operations:
  • Oversee production line activities for efficient and effective operations, meeting daily production schedules
  • Coordinate with other shift managers for seamless production flow across shifts
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards

Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and motivate production staff, offering guidance and support
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback
  • Manage shift schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels

Quality Control:
  • Work with the Quality team to implement and monitor quality control measures for high product standards
  • Collaborate with the hygiene team to maintain hygiene standards
  • Address and resolve production issues promptly
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations

Safety and Compliance:
  • Promote a safety culture within the production team
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections and training sessions

Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions
  • Monitor production metrics and report performance
  • Support new product introductions and changing specifications aligned with customer requirements
  • Coordinate with the engineering team for maintenance and machinery upkeep to prevent downtime

About you:
Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience in the poultry/meat processing industry
  • Demonstrated operational management and leadership skills
  • Knowledge/experience of Food Safety Legislation and requirements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Analytical, numerically astute, strong problem-solving abilities
  • IT literacy, including experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with a positive and flexible approach
