The Music department is seeking a passionate Classical Music Programmer with the knowledge, creative flair, and experience to contribute to The Barbican's world-leading programme.

The post holder will deliver a dynamic, distinctive, and world-class programme aligned with the Barbican's audience development strategy and purposeful programming mission and values.

We are committed to creating a music programme that is ambitious, inclusive, enterprising, distinctive, relevant and one that offers our artists opportunities for creative development.

Working closely with the Head of Music, the Classical Programmer will research, create and lead on the majority of the classical and contemporary classical music own promotion events at the Barbican Centre and Milton Court.

You will nurture and develop Barbican's relationships with associate partners including LSO, BBCSO, Academy of Ancient Music, and international partners and resident artists.

You will also initiate new relationships and creative partnerships and reach across the whole artistic programme to contribute to interdisciplinary events.

The Classical Music Programmer together with the Head of Music will be the main point of contact with the Guildhall School of Music for all classical programming in Milton Court.

Excellent knowledge of and interest in music and the arts, and in particular music (with a specialist knowledge of classical and classical contemporary, artists and repertoire)
An extensive knowledge of the music industry, and a thorough understanding of all the creative processes of music-making.
A proven track-record of original, creative classical programming in an arts venue, ensemble or festival context.
A wide network of contacts across the artistic field both in the UK and internationally.
Experience ofbudget planning, negotiation and management in a fast-moving environment

The ability to work independently in a multi-task environment as well as part of a dynamic and supportive team is essential, as is an independent, flexible approach to problem-solving.
