  • Small HeathA mainstream secondary school based in Small Heath is currently seeking a Designated Safeguarding Leader to join their team on a full-time basis.
This position is a long-term opportunity with the possibility of becoming permanent.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • GCSE in English and Mathematics at Grade C/level 4 or equivalent
  • Qualified as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or with a previously accredited safeguarding qualification
  • Safeguarding training - multi-agency working
  • Full Enhanced Disclosure with Child Barred List check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE
  • Additional qualifications showing support for children and/or families with additional needs
  • Diploma in Social Work with Children and Family to Level 4

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
  • Evidence of working with children and families in challenging situations
  • Experience in multi-agency working including childcare, health, and social care
  • Proficiency in Safeguarding procedures
  • Teamwork skills
  • Proven experience in a DSL role within a school or similar organization focusing on children and young adults
  • Handling sensitive data while maintaining confidentiality

DESIRABLE
  • Experience with Attendance and Safeguarding systems within schools (e.g., CPOMS)
  • Working with children in the primary phase
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, especially conveying complex/sensitive information
  • Ability to identify instances of poor practice and raise concerns effectively to the Senior Leadership Team
