The role
The responsibilities for the Technical Designer will be diverse and will involve range of technical, PM and manufacturing tasks to ensure that retail spaces, displays, fixtures, and other design elements are both aesthetically compelling and functionally
robust.
The Technical Designer will have a keen eye for detail and flair when presenting to clients, engaging and aspirational in ensuring a luxury execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
You will create detailed design intent drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Able to develop accurate CAD drawings, 3D models, and visualizations to communicate design intent clearly.
Ensure that all technical drawings meet industry standards and project requirements.
Work closely with creative designers, architects, and project managers to understand the design vision and requirements.
Advanced skills in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), 3D modelling tool SketchUp, and visualization software (e.g., V-Ray, Lumion)
Proven track record of delivering interior architectural projects
Ability to create SketchUp visuals and bespoke FF&E, and overall design intent drawings
Strong knowledge methods, and practices within the luxury design industry.
Strong organisational and communications skills
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and fabricators to ensure that designs are feasible and can be executed within budget and time constraints.
Participate in design meetings, presentations, and client reviews.Identify and select appropriate suppliers and manufacturers based on project requirements, budget, and quality standards.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of materials and services.
Conduct site visits to oversee the implementation of designs, ensuring they are executed as per the technical drawings and specifications.
Perform quality checks and ensure that all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and brand standards.Stay updated on the latest materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes relevant to retail design.
Source materials and components that meet design specifications, quality standards, and project budgets.
Develop prototypes or mock-ups of design elements to test their feasibility and functionality.
Assist in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to completion
