Here at National Express, we run one of the UK's busiest travel operations. Our mission is simple and significant in scope - to move as many people as possible around the UK.

As part of our Digital team and supporting the wider business functions, the Senior Salesforce Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance and improvement of our Salesforce products and focussing on Sales Cloud and Service Cloud within our Coach, Transport Solutions and Bus Divisions.

Working closely with the related teams, Product Managers and Customer Care teams, the Administrator will identify, develop and deploy new business processes.

This role is part technical project manager, part administrator, part Salesforce analyst and 100% dedicated to our mission.


You will be working hybrid/remote from our Headquarters in Birmingham and you will be an integral part of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Salesforce at National Express.

The CoE is a small but growing agile team of administrators and developers that collectively support Salesforce products across the different divisions of the National Express UK Business.

You will be supported by, and provide support to the wider Salesforce team as we share best practices and achieve our strategic goals.


What you'll do...

  • Serve as primary system administrator for the Salesforce environment and users
  • Focus the organization's use of data towards what best serves the mission
  • Handle all basic administrative functions including user maintenance, modification of page layouts, generation of reports and dashboards, creation of new fields and other routine tasks
  • Gather detailed requests for improvements or changes to the system, and implement these changes as appropriate
  • Automate processes using Salesforce tools such Flow, Approval Processes and Validation Rules
  • Manage less complex Salesforce integrations those not handled by a Salesforce Developer or Consultant/Partner
  • Identify, install and maintain appropriate apps from the AppExchange
  • Maintain and adhere to a comprehensive Change Management process and Sandbox strategy utlising a central UAT sandbox
  • Train new users and grow the Salesforce skill set across the organization
  • Document customizations made in Salesforce
  • Plan ahead for upgrades, seasonal releases and long term projects
  • Act as mentor and senior team member for the other system administrator who will support you to achieve your goals.

What you'll need...

  • Minimum two years of experience as a Salesforce administrator required
  • Preferably in house experience.
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification required.
  • Service industry background desirable.
  • Stakeholder management experience required.
  • A documented history of successful project completion
  • A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex processes
  • Strong Salesforce interest and ability to quickly master new technology
  • Strong understanding of the Salesforce platform, with the ability to build custom apps and objects, formula fields, processes, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality required
  • Experience in managing other people preferred but not required.
