Are you an enthusiast of outdoor activities and sports? Our client enjoys archery, is a beginner golfer, and likes riding a tandem bicycle. He also assists in caring for animals at a local farm and has a pet cat. Social outings and cinema visits are among his favorite activities. If you share a passion for active outdoor pursuits or animals, you could be an ideal match for this personalized caregiver role.

  • Our Client & the Role:

An intelligent 30-year-old individual with an Acquired Brain Injury resulting from a Road Traffic Accident a decade ago, causing right-sided weakness. Assistance is needed for personal care, meal preparation/consumption, and walking indoors due to unsteadiness. Support is required for attending community events, shopping trips, utilizing a powered wheelchair or scooter.

The individual is non-verbal and utilizes a text-to-voice communication system. Living alone in an adapted bungalow, supported by a Care Team. Responsibilities include light household tasks and tidying during quieter periods, including light laundry.

Occasional frustration and impatience may lead to non-violent behavioral displays, but with well-established routines, these can be minimized.

  • About You:

Enjoy accompanying our client on outings. A valid driver's license is necessary to operate the client's automatic vehicle. Allergy-free and willing to assist with pet care for the client's cat.

Experienced caregiver with at least NVQ2 level qualification or equivalent, preferably with Acquired Brain Injury support experience. Specific client training and shadow shifts provided and compensated. Initial training will occur throughout the week, requiring weekday availability during the first few months. Subsequently, periodic update training, supervision, and team meetings may necessitate weekday attendance and flexibility for ad hoc events.

Collaborate with client's therapists, adhere to the Care plan, and engage in voice and physiotherapy exercises to aid in rehabilitation objectives. Prior experience with Therapists is beneficial; however, training will be provided if lacking in this area.

A positive, compassionate individual with a sociable demeanor and nurturing approach to client care, emphasizing patience in communication and encouraging participation in hobbies and other activities. Sharing some hobbies with the client is advantageous, but a willingness to learn about his interests is equally valuable.

  • Hours / Shifts:

Sundays

Week One - 07:45 to 20:00

Week Two - 11:45 to 20:00

Open to applications for permanent Sunday work or alternate Sundays. Additional non-contractual shifts available for holiday/staff coverage.

  • Pay:

£14 per hour Weekdays

£15 per hour Weekends

£16 per hour Bank Holidays

Overtime rate: Additional £1 per hour

£11.44 per hour Sleeping Nights
