Trainee Support Worker

The position is located in a large house and 1-bedroom flat in Risby, where we provide support to gentlemen on the autistic spectrum who may exhibit challenging behaviors. These men are active individuals who enjoy walking, so staff must be willing to stay active each day. Driving is a must, not only for commuting to work (as public transport schedules do not align with shift times), but also because the men have their own cars for outings, which are manual. We are looking for staff members who are eager to assist the men in trying new experiences and participating in various activities. Each gentleman requires 1-1 support, and sometimes 2-1 support when going out. Additionally, we have 1 waking night staff member on duty.
We are seeking individuals who are adaptable and have a genuine passion for providing care and supporting people to live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety.
FitzRoy Supported Living Services in Bury St Edmunds offers care and support to residents with learning difficulties and autism. We are looking for dedicated support workers to join our welcoming team - could this be you?
- Rates: £11.25 per hour (weekend rate), £12.37 per hour
- £2.50 extra per hour for overtime
- Typical Day Shift Patterns: 0700 to 1430 and 1400 to 2200 - you must be available for both shifts and willing to work weekends
- Typical Night Shift Patterns: 2100 to 0700
- Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

- For this role, it is essential to hold a full driving licence and be willing to drive our accessible vehicles.
A support worker's day is dynamic, requiring flexibility. You will provide personalized care and support to individuals with learning disabilities based on their specific needs and preferences. Collaboratively, you will set and accomplish their goals, empowering them to make choices and take control of their lives. Furthermore, you will be responsible for routine tasks such as personal care, engaging in various interests and activities to promote a healthy, well-rounded, and fulfilling lifestyle.
Alternatively, night duties involve supporting nighttime and morning routines, including personal care, domestic chores, and providing immediate assistance as needed throughout the night. In addition to your support duties, there will be additional cleaning responsibilities and documentation to complete during your shift. Your tasks will encompass providing assistance and encouragement with personal care and participating in a variety of interests and activities to promote a healthy, balanced, and fulfilling lifestyle.
