Position: Tuberculosis (TB) Clinical Nurse Specialist

Company: St. Luke's Hospital

Grade: Band 7

Salary: £43,742 per annum (pro rata if part-time)

Location: TB Service SLH

Job Summary: An opportunity is available for a skilled registered nurse to lead the TB team at St. Luke's Hospital. The ideal candidate will oversee and enhance the service, which is currently expanding to meet the community's needs effectively.

The successful candidate should have 8 years of post-registration experience, including 4 years of working with TB patients and another 4 years in the medicine specialty. Essential skills include strong decision-making abilities and clinical assessment skills, along with a full driving license.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of TB patients and their contacts, offering a quality patient-focused service
  • Provide clinical, social, and psychological support through effective communication and health education
  • Deliver advanced nursing/midwifery skills within complex care pathways
  • Lead specific aspects of the service's development and care protocols
  • Work collaboratively in a Multi-disciplinary team to contribute to public health regarding TB

Person Specification:

Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN - adult nursing
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Teaching and Assessing in practice qualification
  • Audit and Research experience

Desirable

  • Completion of a TB Course
  • Independent non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Counselling course

Experience

Essential

  • 4 years of Band 6 experience in TB services
  • 8 years of overall experience, including acute medical nursing
  • Contribution to service development
  • Effective handling of complex situations

Desirable

  • Health visiting experience
  • Paediatric Nursing experience

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
