Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Medical Education & Simulation. This twelve-month post offers an exciting opportunity for a trainee to develop experience and skills as a Medical Educator.

By the end of the post, the postholder will have completed the following learning objectives

  • Have run, developed and directed a simulation course
  • Presented at a national or international simulation conference
  • Completed various simulation-based research outputs
  • Developed skills and experience in medical education


Homerton healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides general and specialist hospital services and community health services in Hackney and the City and is rated 'outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).


Despite this very diverse and, in parts, deprived population, Homerton Hospital has been extremely favourably reviewed with regards to the standard of care it delivers.

We are also extremely proud of the fact that Homerton Hospital has attained the highest possible rating of "Outstanding" from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

This includes an "Outstanding" rating for our Urgent and Emergency Services.

The Simulation Suite was officially opened in 2011. It is equipped with hi-fidelity mannequins including a Laerdal Sim-Man, Sim-Junior, Sim-Baby and Sim-NewB. The suite also has laparoscopic, GI-Bronch and ultrasound simulators. The sim team is exploring the possibilities of technology enhanced learning including Virtual Reality.

There is a busy calendar of postgraduate and undergraduate courses being run by a diverse multi-disciplinary faculty, including large number of in situ simulations in various departments.


The in-situ simulation programme has been recognised by national bodies as being one of the most advanced in the country, and we continue to expand it every year,.

The in situ sim programme was the winner of Homerton patient safety award in 201- To develop their skills in simulation and medical education

  • Teaching on simulation and clinical skills Programme, especially with multidisciplinary, in situ training
  • To develop, implement and deliver innovative simulation training & courses, at course director level
  • Be able to develop own teaching materials and gain experience in the obtaining funding for training and equipment
  • Be provided with an opportunity to gain an educational qualification to the level of certificate or above
  • To liaise with The Medical School, Foundation School, relevant Specialty Schools and other key stakeholders (e.g. Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) to optimize cooperation and the use of existing resources
  • To participate in educational research (e.g. simulation training & transferable skills), management and educational governance (e.g. participation in Simulation Strategy Group meetings)
  • Participation in Medical Education Committee meetings
