Summary of Role
The Head of Data will be responsible for overseeing the collection, management, and storage of data across the organisation.

They will be a key member of the senior team leading on data strategy, managing data governance, and using data to inform strategy and decision-making across Babington.


The successful applicant will have a strong track record in data leadership roles in SMBs, preferably within the funded learning sector.

They will have extensive experience with the Microsoft stack including Power BI, Azure, Data Factory, SSIS and Logic Apps.

Brief summary of principle accountabilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with Babington's strategic goals and objectives, updated annually with a roadmap of improvements to be proposed and delivered in year.
  • Oversee the management of data governance, including defining and enforcing data policies, procedures, and standards, as well as data security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Lead the review and development of dashboards, reports, and other data visualization tools to provide insights and inform decisionmaking across the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data needs and develop datadriven solutions to business problems and opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Own the data and reporting which flows from the CRM system.
  • Manage the organization's data infrastructure, including data warehouses and pipelines.
  • Work with external data and technology providers and partners to obtain and integrate data as needed.
  • Supervise and line manage the Data & MI team, providing guidance and mentorship, and managing the work coming into and through the team.
  • Manage Data & MI technology partners, acting as key contact to vendors and ensuring value for money, timely contract renewal and effective KPI management.
  • Lead on customer facing requirements of our Data & MI integrations, working with customer's IT teams where integrations are required to develop and implement solutions.
  • Take an active role in implementing and developing new systems at such time the business requires them.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure that Babington has an Enterprise CRM system that meets our unique needs, taking ownership of the CRM data flows and reports
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve targets and adhere to Babington's Purpose, Mission, Vison and Values.
  • Attend and complete any mandated training or standardisation meetings as provided to ensure continuous improvement in practice.
  • Regularly review own performance against our mission, values and competency frameworks, with a willingness to acquire any necessary qualifications or skills pertinent to the role.
  • Act as an ambassador for Babington exhibiting enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Grade A-C GCSE in English and maths or equivalent

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a data leadership role

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices

  • Proficiency with SQL and data visualisation tools (Power BI, DAX)

  • Experience leading and mentoring a Data & MI team

  • Experience developing and implementing data security protocols and policies

  • Experience participating in annual planning efforts and developing data roadmaps

  • Proficiency with Advanced Excel (Macros, Complex formulae, Power Pivot, external data sources)

  • Experience of managing/administering key MI systems for a business

  • Extensive experience interacting at an executive level
