It is an exciting time to join the University, following the recent arrival of our new Vice-Chancellor Professor Wendy Larner who took up her position in September 2023.

The first woman in the history of Cardiff University to hold this position, Professor Larner's leadership marks the start of a new phase of strategic development for the University.

We are now seeking to appoint a Head of the School of Law and Politics. The School of Law and Politics is research-led with a reputation for internationally excellent research and impact.

Our interdisciplinary nature defines our research environment and creates unique opportunities for staff and students to collaborate, and we are committed to providing an outstanding learning environment for our students so that they can explore the dynamic and fast-paced fields of Law, Politics, and International Relations.


Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Head of School will build on firm foundations and oversee the delivery of excellent education and student experience, foster research that matters globally, and inspire an inclusive culture.


The role is full time for up to 5 years (with the possibility of a further term of 3 years).

The role carries a non-pensionable allowance. The role as Head of School is attached to an underlying open - ended academic contract.
