The Head of Corporate Governance is a critical role in the organisation and is responsible for leading on and coordinating the development of strategies and policies to support governance of the University Health Board (UHB), in particular;

Risk management, compliance with legislation and other mandatory requirements, so that the UHB meets the highest standards of internal control.

The postholder will deputise for the Director of Corporate Governance as required across the full range of duties as well as support the Director of Corporate Governance in their leadership roles in the drive for quality

improvement and continued improvement in compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements to ensure an improvement in patient outcomes and their experience by providing strong, visible leadership in projects as necessary.


The Head of Corporate Governance is responsible for:
Providing leadership across the organisation in driving forward the implementation of policy development and governance systems.


Providing advice on corporate governance to Directors, Independent Members and Divisional Teams as required and proactively identify when more support is required and implement actions as necessary.

Communicating highly complex information with regard to statutory

requirements, legal processes, mandatory requirements and standards where there may be barriers to acceptance, overcoming resistance to change where necessary.


Writing of reports for presentation to the UHB Board and its Committees to ensure that it is appraised of developments and the current position with regard to remit of role and functions for which the UHB lead.


The role requires an experienced, highly qualified and competent professional with broad experience and a highly developed skill set in policy development, relationship management and political understanding.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
