Children's Services

Stockport Council

Aspire Complex Safeguarding Team Leader, Children's social care, Stockport family

Full-time (37 hrs), maternity cover until April 2021

Salary: £36,153 to £41,846 plus 5% market supplement

This post is available externally as a fixed term contract or internally as a secondment. If you are applying for this post internally, you must have permission from your line manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to the Aspire Complex Safeguarding Service, based in Stockport's Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub and co-located with the Stockport Phoenix and Challenger Police teams and other services.

The role

Are you a highly skilled social worker who has experience of supervising and coaching staff, and who is ambitious about improving outcomes for children and families who are affected by domestic abuse and complex abuse and exploitation? Do you want to be a team leader for a busy and innovative team within the integrated Stockport Family service? If so, we would love to hear from you.

If you join Stockport Family as an Aspire team leader, you will have a key role in overseeing and supporting social work practice to continue to flourish and play a critical part in our ambition to be outstanding
.

You will lead one of Complex Safeguarding teams and have the following skills and experience to offer:

• Excellent knowledge of working with complex cases where there is a high risk of Domestic abuse, Forced marriage and honour based violence, Child Sexual Exploitation, Serious organised crime, Female genital mutilation, trafficking and modern slavery, radicalisation and extremism.

• Able to provide strong leadership and support to social workers and multi-agency practitioners working with domestic abuse and complex abuse including quality assurance, audit, and provision of reflective supervision, and delivering family centred plans to keep safe and reduce risk

• Ensuring that services are delivered which are trauma-informed and support victims' recovery

• Able to provide training and consultation to professionals around domestic abuse, and complex abuse and exploitation to upskill and build confidence across the workforce

Stockport family model

In Stockport, we believe that relationships should shape the service delivery model, not the point a child is at in services. We aim for children and families to have just one social worker whilst they are in service. You will provide quality reflective supervision, modelling and coaching to enable staff to build great working relationships.

Stockport Family is committed to working in an integrated way using a restorative approach to enable children and families to remain together wherever possible. Where this is not possible to ensure that children are safeguarded and able to achieve the very best outcomes. You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships to make a difference with children and families.

You will work alongside locality social work teams and colleagues from health and early years, as well as borough-wide specialist services. This means you can access the support, and advice you need easily to deliver the best interventions for children and families, in a system where we share problems and look for solutions together rather than try to off-load them to others.

Our relentless focus is on practice and outcomes for children and families and you will play an important part in delivering outstanding practice and ensuring that children and families are at the heart of all decision-making and service delivery.

What we can offer you:

You will receive regular supervision, access to training and development opportunities and work in a supportive culture where we are ambitious about delivering excellent social work practice and supporting you to be the very best you can be. We offer employees flexible working to support work life balance as this helps us have a happy and stable workforce.
