Essential Requirements:

The successful Police Domestic Abuse Advocate will have:

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent work level experience
  • Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding adults and children.

The Role:

  • We are looking for a skilled, dedicated, passionate individual to take on the role of a Police Domestic Abuse Advocate.
  • You will work as part of a team providing practical and emotional support at the point of crisis to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse.


The Police Domestic Abuse Advocate role will work in partnership with Police officers to provide a pro-active, short-term crisis intervention as part of the Paragon West Sussex service.


  • You will work across a variety of hours including outofhours to provide a face to face joint response to incidents of domestic abuse alongside police response teams.
  • You will provide initial contact and process onward referrals to ensure clients are referred into appropriate longterm support as required.

About You:

The successful applicant will have:

  • You will deliver a crisis response service to clients, alongside police officers, offering independent, facetoface support at the time of the incident.
  • You sit within frontline police teams offering independent, facetoface or telephone support to clients.
  • You will work alongside officers to increase their knowledge of domestic abuse including the impact on victims and their children and share best practice.
  • You will identify and assess the risks to domestic abuse victims using an evidencebased risk identification checklist DASH RIC and refer to the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference when required.
  • You will liaise with other agencies (both voluntary and statutory) to facilitate onward referrals ensuring each client receives the appropriate service individual to their needs, to help keep them/their children safe.
