The company is part of a global manufacturing group, supplying components to the power generation and aerospace industries. The Mechanical Engineer / Dimensional & Tooling Engineer will;
- Introduce tooling and dimensional processes that meet customer specification and company expectation.
- Improve dimensional process capability.
Mechanical Engineer / Dimensional & Tooling Engineer duties:
- Provide reports and statistical evidence to support dimensional validations and tolerance buy-offs
- Tooling Specification and liaison with toolmakers
- Tooling procurement
- Runner system design and CAD Modelling
- Preparation of component CAD modelsfor Pattern Die Tooling
- Gauge and fixture specification / procurement
- Providing planning documentation
- Continuous improvement of processes
- Controlling tool modifications (cost / timing and technical control)
- Defining internal dimensional process tolerances (IE wax w/t and CMM tolerances)
- Promotion and introduction of safe working practices
Dimensional & Tooling Engineer requirements:
- Engineering Degree
- Preferably in Mechanical Engineering
- Industry experience
- Good knowledge of 3D CAD Package
- Preferably in Siemens NX
- Enduser Knowledge of ERP Software i.e. SAP
- Good understanding of GD&T
- Able to Read and Understand complex 2D drawings
- Proficient in use of MS Office i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Good knowledge of Statistics
- Good verbal and written communication skills across all level of business
- Ability to work on and resolve complex problems
The package:
38 core hours per week
Mon/Tuesday 7.30am to 16.30pm
Wed/Thurs 7.30am to 16.15pm
Fri7.30am to 12.00 noon
Salary - £30K - £32K plus quarterly bonus scheme - averaging 5-8% of salary
Pension contributions matched up to 7.5% of salary
Holidays - 25 days + 8 statutory holidays
