Job Title: Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer at Yorkshire Building Society Group, you will play a crucial role in providing data technical solutions to meet the diverse needs of data-users across the business. Your responsibilities will include analyzing data and user requirements, designing, building, and implementing reliable and resilient data products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and implement solutions to integrate new and existing systems, ensuring they adhere to development standards and meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Analysts, and Product Owners to perform impact analysis on requirements and designs.
  • Work closely with the business and Project Manager/Owners to define scope, timescales, and quality metrics to deliver data products across YBS.
  • Support the development of the capability and capacity of team and/or service resources to drive sustained commercial success.
  • Contribute to good housekeeping practices for the maintenance of data, including de-commissioning unused data products.
  • Participate in and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit, and integration testing.
  • Report on the progress of work allocated, in the manner required for that delivery.
Requirements:
  • Understanding and proven experience in the principles of Infrastructure and data warehouse (DWH) design, dimensional, relational modeling, and BI delivery using Enterprise ETL and BI software.
  • Understanding of physical database implementation technologies, such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Understanding of data profiling and its impact on code.
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/DataOps methods in development of data solutions.
  • Awareness of Data Cleansing, Data Quality, and Data Governance tools and methods.
