Job Description

As a Data Engineer at Yorkshire Building Society, you will play a crucial role in providing data-driven solutions to meet the diverse needs of our business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement reliable and resilient data products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data integrations between systems, ensuring seamless data flow and adherence to development standards.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and designers to deliver data solutions that support multiple analysis use cases and teams.
  • Take ownership of the development, testing, and implementation of data solutions, ensuring they meet requirements and are delivered on time.
  • Work closely with architects, analysts, and product owners to perform impact analysis on requirements and designs.
  • Support the development of the capability and capacity of the team and/or service resources to drive sustained commercial success.
  • Contribute to good housekeeping practices for the maintenance of data, including de-commissioning unused data products.
  • Participate in and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit, and integration testing.
Requirements
  • Hands-on technical experience with enterprise ETL tools, such as SAP BODS, ODI, or SSIS.
  • Understanding and proven experience in the principles of infrastructure and data warehouse design, dimensional, relational modeling, and BI delivery using enterprise ETL and BI software.
  • Understanding of physical database implementation technologies, such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management abilities, including senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and work prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and how they can be applied to solve new challenges more effectively.
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/DataOps methods in development of data solutions.
  • Awareness of Data Cleansing, Data Quality, and Data Governance tools and methods.
