As a Consultant in Learning and Skills you'll join at an important time and be at the centre of engaging, enabling, and supporting colleagues in a shift of culture and capability across the Society.

Consultants are individual contributors who can work independently and as part of a self-organising team with expertise in consultancy and technical design build to create inclusive learning solutions.

The Learning and Skills team sits in the Leadership, Learning and Culture (LLC) which is one of the Professional Practices within the People Function.

The focus of LLC is to develop and embed key skills, and behaviours of our leaders, managers, and colleagues, so the Society wide business can deliver the strategy and meet customer needs.


The role is within the Leadership, Learning and Culture team, which is responsible for building Society wide capability, a key deliverable for our strategic culture and capability lever.


This role within the Learning and Skills team, use colleague insights and innovative learning techniques to drive behavioural and skills development.

Your success isn't based on how long you spend at your desk. You'll have contracted hours, but we're always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. We will always strive to find a way that works for everyone.

What you'll be doing:

Scope, clarify, research and define problems related to Leadership, Learning or Culture to specify a deliverable that will deliver against the strategy and meet LLC's customers' needs

Design, prototype, build, test, evaluate and refine deliverables ensuring they deliver against the scope, strategy and meet customers' needs.


Engaging stakeholder management including Embedded Learning Teams, leaders, wider People Function, essential learning business owners and employee networks to understand their needs in relation to deliverables and gain their support in delivering target outcomes.


Design and deliver products as part of a multi-disciplinary team via sprints, swarms and creativity sessions using design thinking and Agile sprint approaches.

Keep up to date with external developments across the industry, including learning technologies and techniques. These should enable the shifting of customer culture and capability.

About you:

  • Experience and broad knowledge of capability and culture change with depth in learning. Can articulate how that knowledge is kept current.
  • A preference to work as part of a team, prioritising team deliverables above their own preferences and willing to chip in to get things done.
  • Creates a positive team environment which supports a high quality of delivery and harnesses diverse views within the team.
  • Strong experience of engaging customers as well as stakeholders at an equivalent level and two up. An appreciation of the priorities and preferences of senior leaders.
  • A good communicator, confident at both writing and presenting
  • Able to understand, analyse and interpret data and build customer insight to inform and improve product design.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to manage at pace multiple deliverables and resolve competing priorities appropriately
