Swindon, Swindon, United Kingdom NERC - the Natural Environment Research Council Full time
Opportunity Overview

Status: Upcoming

Funding Type: Grant

Total Fund: £400,000

Maximum Award: £100,000

This funding opportunity aims to establish a community-driven research network focused on enhancing access to cultural resources. The funded networks will foster collaborations among communities, researchers, and policymakers to support urban cultural revitalization.

Eligibility: Applicants must be affiliated with a UK research organization that qualifies for funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

The full economic cost (FEC) for your network can reach up to £100,000, with AHRC covering 80% of the FEC.

Networks are expected to commence by a specified date and will receive funding for a duration of 12 months.

Important Considerations:

  • Ensure that your leadership team is interdisciplinary and embodies a shared vision for the network.
  • Partnerships within the leadership team should be equitable and inclusive, promoting innovative interdisciplinary methods.
  • Include project co-leads from cultural sectors and individuals with experiential knowledge.
  • A single project lead must be designated, affiliated with the lead research organization, and responsible for grant administration.
Leadership Team Requirements

Applications should be co-created and co-designed with input from all partners involved. The leadership team should reflect a balance of activity and management across partner organizations.

Project Lead Criteria

Standard eligibility criteria apply for UK principal investigators and research organizations. Applicants must be residents in the UK and hosted by eligible research organizations.

Co-Lead Inclusion

Co-leads not based at eligible research organizations must be part of the leadership team and can include:

  • Practitioners from relevant sectors
  • Individuals with experiential knowledge
  • Community organizations
  • Policymakers
  • Private sector representatives

Costs for these co-leads can be listed under 'Exceptions' and funded at 100% FEC, provided they are justified.

Encouragement for Early Career Researchers

Applications from early career researchers are particularly welcomed, as this initiative aims to cultivate interdisciplinary research capacity in the UK.

Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

We are dedicated to fostering equality of opportunity for all applicants and encourage submissions from a diverse range of researchers. Support for flexible working arrangements is available to accommodate personal circumstances.
