Specialist Physiotherapist in Stroke Rehabilitation

We are looking to recruit a full time band 6 physiotherapist on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join our established inpatient physiotherapy stroke rehab team. The successful applicant will work within a strong MDT to provide effective, evidence based and often complex neurological therapy to patients within a supportive team environment.

There will be a variety of neurological presentations with varying levels of therapy needs. You will work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of the wider MDT to delegate and prioritise the caseload. Your development will be supported by the clinical and team lead physiotherapist. The post holder will be responsible for supervising band 5 physiotherapists, band 3 physiotherapy assistants and students. The role requires a dynamic physiotherapist who is able to work with the stroke rehab MDT to provide exemplary care to the patient. The successful applicant will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills to support with the rehabilitation and discharge planning of patients. Main duties of the job To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse neurological presentations and sometimes highly complex presentations. To provide timely goals with clinical reasoning and develop treatment plans, deliver individualised evidence based treatment programmes and assist in discharge planning. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular informal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from a more senior physiotherapist is available as required. To provide clinical supervision and education to the physiotherapy team and wider MDT. This would include regular formal and informal training and clinical reasoning sessions as well as doing appraisals when required. • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent
