Senior Credit Analyst


We are working with a hedge fund that is looking to hire a Senior Credit Analyst (3-7 years' experience) to support the two lead portfolio managers in running a Credit Fund, which combines a top-down macro view with bottom-up credit analysis.


Additionally, being able to identify good longs, as well as alpha catalyst long/short ideas is important, as someone with a pure long-only mindset would most likely not be a strong fit.

A good understanding of CDS and other instruments and ways to expressa trade (both long and short) is also strongly desired.


This is a great opportunity for a talented credit analyst that would like to work as part of a smaller, agile team, where they can have a larger impact on performance and make investment decisions much more quickly.

Also, there is a flat, non-hierarchicalstructure and a potential path to being a PM over a few years, however, this is not an opportunity for someone that is looking to run risk in the short-to-medium term, however this will be an option as the firm continues to grow.


Good culture, rooted in intellectual curiosity and constantly thinking ahead, as well as strong growth potential over the next couple of years.


Requirements:

  • 37 years' experience as a credit analyst
  • Experience looking across the capital structure, including multiple sectors and geographies (and very comfortable looking at HY names)
  • Good understanding of macro, including regularly taking into account the macro picture and how it could impact any potential bottomup investment ideas:

Example:
Even if a bond has an attractive yield, if the company is depending on a retail client base that buys a lot of their products through financing/loans, it will be important to also take into account the impact that rising interestrates (macro picture) and tighter liquidity conditions will have on everyone, which in turn means loans will be more expensive and tougher to afford, in turn meaning there could be large risks to investing in that bond

  • Good understanding of CDS and other instruments, as well as instrument convexity
  • Ideally experience generating both long and long/short trade ideas in the credit space
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Strong quantitative background (preferred), as well as a clear framework for coming up with idea trading opportunities
  • Experience looking at both DM and EM names (with DM being the focus)
  • Buy-Side and Sell-Side backgrounds will both be considered.
  • Strong Academic background
