About the role


We are looking for a
Sessional Cafe Worker to join our Specialist Living team at the May Logan Centre, Bootle on a casual basis for a minimum of one 5 hour shift per week but there will be the opportunity for additional hours when required.

The salary for this role is pro rata based on hours worked and is the equivalent of £11.48 per hour.


  • Provide a welcoming and relaxed Café service, ensuring that the Café meets the standards set by the Living Well agenda.
  • Responsibilities include contributing to the development of health and safety procedures, ensuring records are completed in line with the legislation and ensuring food hygiene certificates are valid.
  • Ensure all areas of Café are kept clean and tidy, with food display, promotional material and display boards kept up to date and engaging.
  • Cook and prepare healthy food options, working with LWS colleagues and external organisations to promote the healthy living agenda. Work with other MLC team members and external service providers to provide catering for meetings, projects and courses delivered in the centre.
  • Remain up to date with local services, MLC projects and activities within the centre. Engage service users and act as a referral point, allowing service users to access the most appropriate further services.
  • Deliver high quality customer service and cash handling procedures are followed by actively participating as a member of the team in order to maintain high standards and improve services.

What we require?

  • Food Hygiene Level 1 Certificate.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt and tailor approach, language and behaviour to suit the needs of different service users.
  • Ability to identify healthy options for meals and cook a range of meals and create recipes.
  • Demonstrate an ability to monitor, evaluate and report on services.
  • Relevant experience of working in an environment promoting healthy living.
  • Awareness of Safeguarding issues.
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent qualification/ experience.
