Student Support Worker -Languages and HumanitiesGraduateAn exciting opportunity has presented itself for a diligent and self-motivated Graduate to work within a well-known Wandsworth based secondary school. This role will start in September 2024 and will continue until July 2024.The schoolThis school is a high achieving all-girls school situated in South west London. The school has an inclusive community and provide opportunities for all their learners, whether they have special educational needs or are part of a more able cohort. They are recognised as a Science Specialist School and have the coveted 'Sportsmark' and 'Artsmark Gold' awards. The Examination results continue to be excellent at Key Stage, 4 and 5 with outstanding results year on year. Centrally based, the school is easily accessible by public transport and benefits from a larger than average sized car park.Student support workerThe school are looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to work as a Student Support worker on an ongoing assignment to start in September. This role will act as a springboard and training ground for graduates who want to learn how to teach and build transformational relationships with pupils. The school are looking for expereince graduate who have either a languages or Humanities degreeYou'll be responsible for.Gathering and utilizing information about students from a variety of sources including school files, SIMS based information, pupil tracking information, teachers, and external agencies.Working with the PCC, carrying out additional student assessments for those who are returning to school following long absence, exclusion, dual registration at the Pupil Referral Unit, transfer from other provisions.Manage the day to day running of the Pathway (internal exclusion) Centre:Draw up, implement, and review Pupil Profiles and target sheets, and other measuring tools for use with targeted students.Developing a mentoring relationship with individuals identified, supporting them in different settings such as in-class, at Homework Club, in the Learning Skills Centre and operating as a bridge between school and other provisions such as the Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).Plan 1:1 sessions which address the needs of the student and aid them in setting and reviewing targets.Planning and running group work such as 'Settling In', 'Anger Management', 'Social skills' and 'Improving Attendance'Monitoring the interventions and outcomes for each young person, using Cluster and school systems, reporting to the Learning Support Head of Cluster.Gathering information for Pastoral Support Programme meetings, and attendance to those meetings.Gathering of pupil information for other meetings such as Team around the Child meetings (TACs) at the direction of the DMS.To be considered for this Graduate TA role you must have :

  • Languages or Humanities based degree
  • Have a passion for helping young people excel
  • Have experience working with secondary school aged students (Preferable)
