This fellowship is designed for an experienced orthopaedic clinician, who would like to gain a further period of development in the sub-speciality of MSK Oncology, in preparation for a consultant role.
The Fellowship can be designed around the training needs of the successful applicant, with opportunity for independent practice dependent on level of experience.
The Musculoskeletal Tumour Service at RJAH is one of the five Bone Sarcoma units commissioned by NHS England. It provides a comprehensive service in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumours.It is part of the Greater Manchester and Oswestry Sarcoma Service (GMOSS) along with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
- Support all three consultants in their out-patient clinics.
- Assist all three consultants in their theatre lists.
- Assessment of new patients, with consultant supervision.
- Clerk admissions where required and be responsible for the day-to-day care of in-patients.
- Attendance on ward rounds.
- Discharge requirements for in-patients.
- To assist with any other aspects of patient care as appropriate.
- To assist in clinic preparation duties

It also works with partner organisation to provide specialist treatment for bone tumours and community based rheumatology services.The Trust provides services for a population well in excess of 750,000 people. The normal catchment area includes Shropshire, North Wales, Mid Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent.
The hospital receives secondary and tertiary referrals from an even wider area due to the specialist nature of its work.
