The main responsibility of the Learning Facilitator will be the preparation and delivery of the Golden Hinde's flagship, 'Living History' programmes.

They will provide compelling, educational and accessible workshops for children and young people aged 5-16 years, encouraging them to engage critically and imaginatively with the ship and it's replica handling collection.

They will primarily work with schools and other community groups who are taking part in our evening programmes prior to an overnight stay on the ship.

With younger ages, they will deliver workshops in Elizabethan costume. Hours depend on a successful applicant's availability. The Night voyage runs from 16:00-21:00 but can run during the day on occasion. Weekend shifts are also available.


We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including those who may not come from a conventional museum background but may have experience facilitating learning experiences for children and young people in other settings.

Creative skills are desirable but not essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver highquality, educational workshops for children and young people aged 516 during evening programmes onboard the ship.
  • Assist the other members of the Learning and Engagement team in the preparation, setup and packdown of the programmes.
  • Ensure the safe and proper storage of the replica handling collection and play a key role in its maintenance.
  • Assist in the evaluation of programming to help ensure that feedback for learners and those who support them informs the development and delivery of the educational offer.
  • Play a key role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of learners and those who support them.

Person specification:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering hands-on learning sessions for children and young people.
  • Experience of communicating clearly and adapting your communication style for different audiences.
  • An excellent team player.
  • A commitment to providing accessible and inclusive learning experiences.
  • A thorough understanding of the importance of anti-racism in history education.
  • The ability to be highly adaptive and address challenges creatively.
