(Full time equivalent is £22,634 pa)

Contract Type:
Temporary, 3 months initially, 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE). (This is a temporary role covering for an existing staff role on a short term basis and may be extended by UOGSU if needed.)

About Us
It's an exciting time to be joining the University of Gloucestershire Student's Union. We're a year into our 3 year strategy that focuses on communities, change and education.

The SU is made up of several student facing teams:
Student Activities, Student Voice and Marketing and Commercial.

We also have 3 elected Officers who work in partnership with these teams, our CEO and University of Gloucestershire students to improve the student experience at the University.

We have over 70 sports teams and societies for students to get involved in and we provide a student advice service.


As part of the Finance and Resources team you will work closely with staff and students to support the work of the SU, so you will be contributing directly to the student experience.

We have SU spaces at each of the campuses, FCH and Park in Cheltenham and Oxstalls in Gloucester.

The Finance and Resources team is based at Park campus, but we work at other campuses too and we get the chance to experience the buzz of student life when working at SU events, such as Welcome Fayre.

The successful applicant will be involved in:

  • Administration support for SU governance; including meeting organisation, agenda and paper circulation, Minute taking, document organisation and filing.
  • Diary management and admin support for CEO
  • Administration support for recruitment and HR functions; including sending out paperwork to new starters, collating returned paperwork, and related document organisation and filing.

Main Purpose of the Job


To support the governance functions of the Union in order to maintain up to date and accurate governance records, provide administrative support and diary management to the CEO, and support the administration of HR functions and assist with general administration to ensure smooth and efficient running of the office.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Act as secretary to the Board of Trustees
  • Act as secretary to Trustee committees; Audit and Risk Committee and People Committee
  • Act as secretary to SU staff meetings; Management Committee and Senior Management Team meetings
  • Provide diary and administration support for CEO

Department responsibilities
To ensure documentation is accurate and up to date and filed appropriately

General Duties

  • To understand and uphold the purpose and values of the organisation and ensure that these guides and inform the work and conduct of the post holder.
  • To be knowledgeable of the union constitution, as it applies to this post, including any legal requirements.
  • To work in accordance with all SU policies and procedures, including health and safety, staffing protocols, financial procedures and the SU's equal opportunities policy
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, properly directed by the line manager. These variations will not change the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed.
  • To attend from time to time, as required, meetings as necessary to meet the requirements of the post
  • To attend all staff development days and training as required. Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate this
  • To ensure the SU's aspirations to reduce our environmental impact are delivered, contributing positively to the department and the organisation's aims
  • To contribute positively (with full day commitment) to at least two university open days and to undertake general team duties during the main annual welcome period
