_Our Purpose_


Due to the expanding remit of Virtual School Headteachers and promotion of the previous Deputy Head, we are seeking to appoint two inspirational and innovative individuals who are passionate about maximising the educational experiences and outcomes of the children who are looked after (CLA) in North East Lincolnshire.

Our new Deputies will have experience of leadership and management within education or local authority services.

They will bring additional strategic and operational capacity, depth, and vision to compliment the work of our established Virtual School team.

Each Deputy will be responsible for distinct aspects of the Virtual School's statutory and extended duties.

_ Your Role_


You will lead the work of Inclusion Officers to ensure that all of our Children Looked After (CLA) receive their entitlement of well-matched full-time educational provision.

This will include providing support and challenge to schools and partner agencies around admissions and transitions; inclusive practice; and suspensions and exclusions.


Effectively track, analyse and use data to maximise attainment and progress for all Children Looked After as if they were on a single roll.


Ensure efficient implementation of statutory Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and assist in the development of quality assurance systems to maximise the impact of the PEP process.

Develop, implement, and lead on approaches to Promote the Education of looked-after children and care leavers at Post-16.

You will oversee Early Years and Special Educational Needs & Disabilities practices.

Extended duties

  • Develop, implement, and lead on the strategic and operational approaches to the extended
  • Promoting the education of children who have been previously looked after (PCLA)
  • Promoting educational outcomes for children with a social worker (CWSW) and
children in kinship care arrangements

Championing the educational attendance, attainment, and progress of these wider cohorts of vulnerable children by:

  • making visible the disadvantages often experienced by these
- enhancing partnerships with key partners and other stakeholders.
- promoting practice that supports children's engagement.
- leveling up children's outcomes to narrow the attainment gap so every child has the

opportunity to reach their potential.

Effectively track, analyse and use data to maximise attainment and progress

You will line manage and support the work of the Education Officer for School Attendance Duties, who sits within the Virtual School

You will be responsible for developing and monitoring the website and social media communications

_ About You_


Good experience of leadership and management roles as well understanding the importance of effective multi-agency partnerships are central for this role.

You will be a strong communicator and have good data analysis skills.

You will demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges facing many vulnerable young people and the importance of improving their educational outcomes, aspirations, and life chances.
