Hippersons is a unique holiday destination on the edge of the southern Broads, providing accommodation and experiences that help our guests explore the locality.


Overview of the role:

The Boatyard Team member is responsible for assisting the Boatyard and paddle-craft Team Leader with co-ordinating and maintaining an efficient and welcoming guest experience across the season.

If required the team member will assist in customer experiences, such as guided canoe tours, showing customers how to use a dinghy and taking part in other activities as required.

The team member will also take part in maintenance and upkeep of the yard and all within it, under the direction of the boatyard manager/s.

The team member will work Saturday and Sundays with possible additional hours in school holidays.

Main Duties:
To undertake day launch boat hire and give instruction to customers on boat operation and boat safety.

To undertake canoe, kayak and paddle board hire and provide customers with instructions on safety and paddle-craft operation.

Assist with customer arrivals and departures, and ensure customers always receive a welcome host gold experience.

Trouble shoot problems that arise in a speedy and efficient manner

Prepare day launches, dinghy's, canoes, kayaks, paddle board and pedal boat for use by customers

Answer the phone, take bookings on our online system, and ensure all customer touch points are the best they can be

Carry out Pump outs and diesel for boat owners

Holiday not to be taken and instead accrued as extra pay at the end of the contract.

Maintain an organised and professional workshop and yard

Perform general maintenance across the boat yard, including lawn repairs, and lawn and dock maintenance

Pressure washing, antifouling, tar and varnish of boats for maintenance and repair

Washing and polishing hulls, superstructures, top side, bilges and engine rooms

Safe operation of company vehicles, and equipment including trailer handling and slipping and shoring of boats

Be trustworthy in the handling of money as required

Other duties as required

Person Specification:
Ability to work well with others

Customer service experience (desirable to hold Welcome Host Gold)

To have basic first aid

Knowledge of Paddle-craft safety and ability to take paddle craft out on the water.

Knowledge of basic sailboat and rigging experience

Ability to read, write, comprehend work orders and use IT

Able to lift weight up to 75lbs

Possess good health and physical condition
