As the Designer you will be a valuable member of the Product team, working with the Creative Director and Founder to initiate concepts each season that are reflective of the creative vision and La Coqueta.

As part of a of a 2-person design team reporting into the Buying Manager you will be a vital link between the creative and commercial sides of the business.

You will champion design integrity and brand aesthetic, with a specific focus on product design and execution to ensure the CD's vision is achieved.

Partnering in a cross-functional capacity, and working with a dynamic and creative approach, you will collaborate with Buying, Merchandising and Ecommerce teams in order to deliver in this role.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
nCollaborate with the Creative Director to identify big ideas, key trends, and relevant shapes within the rangenResearch and development of new stitches and shape and patterns for presentation and product developmentnResearch and execution of product and design vision through sketch/design creation including fabrication and trim directionnExtensive competitive market research and shopping including luxury, vintage, and company archives with a global viewnDesign inspirational samples for both seasonal collections and long-term product developmentnPrepare digital and physical presentations (sketches, color ups, fabrics)nAvailable for design calls to action design changes efficiently and accuratelynAdhere to and meet Design calendar deadlines and production/company critical pathnWorking with the Buying Team, ensure designs deliver to the La Coqueta aesthetic and quality standards as well as meeting safety regulations

DesignnWork with the CD on designing the seasonal product rangesnDevelop new product ideas and concepts that meet business objectives and brand strategynAttend trade shows to source new raw materials and develop relationships with new suppliers

Key SkillsnStrong sketching and design capabilitynStrong Adobe suite skills to produce technical sketches and/or CADsnExtensive knowledge of childrenswear designnStrong understanding of a wide product base including woven/jersey, yarns/gauges and experience with European mills and factories a plusnKnowledge and understanding of fit and constructionnAbility to marry the commercial and creativenAbility to capture and create the La Coqueta aesthetic, understanding of luxury childrenswear marketnResourceful, creative, and work efficiently when faced with multiple projects and challenging deadlinesnProven verbal and written communication skills in English and SpanishnAbility to work independently and develop strong relationships with key partners and manage key stakeholdersnAbility to work and communicate design ideas both in person and digitally in a hybrid work environmentnThis position requires some international travel, predominantly in Europe
