Primary Send Teaching Assistant

Great Barr, Sandwell, United Kingdom The Special Education Network Full time

We are looking to appoint a specialist 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant who is experienced in supporting students with Autism, pre and post diagnosis.

This is for a KS1 role supporting a student in reception at a school based near Great Barr, Birmingham. (B44)

This position will be on a long-term basis for the rest of the academic year, with the potential for the contract to be extended for next academic year as well.

This role is likely to become permanent for the right person, as funding has been secured for the student indefinitely.

It is particularly important that you have experience supporting pupils with Autism effectively and can both understand and recognise students' individual learning and development needs.

The role itself is to support your student within lessons, enabling them to access lesson content and encouraging them when in a group setting to ensure learning is resumed as normally as possible for the young person.

The school highly prioritises mutual respect, rapport and relationship building, as well as being committed to the school. You will be joining a positive, collaborative and supportive team who view their school as a community.

To be considered for this role you must have the following:

  • Level 3 in childcare or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with children who have SEN
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Engaging, positive and reliable.
  • Experience of working with children with SEND and Autism in a mainstream, SEN or residential setting, that can be referenced
  • Be resilient, consistent and passionate about supporting children
  • Want the opportunity for a longer term contract or permanent position

This is not a regular supply contracted role and very much an opportunity to become a real part of the team.

There is also a great opportunity for you to have autonomy and creativity in your approach to supporting learning and guidance.

The school would love somebody who is able to think outside of the box and can act as a role model to children.

Does that sound like the next step in your career?

Are you ready to take a challenge?

We will support you throughout this role and will also support you with further steps in your career.
