Distribution Supervisor

Valeco Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with our local client, who are one of the worlds larges innovators and manufacturers in their industry sector, operating across three continents and distributors in more than 40 countries worldwide.


Our client is a long-standing business based locally in Dalkeith, and due to internal promotion, we have a rare opportunity to hire a Distribution Supervisor.

The role?

  • Produce daily work plan, organise and supervise warehouse operation.
  • Assign daily workloads to warehouse charge hands in line with customer demand.
  • Conduct daily start and end of day meetings with charge hands to ensure plan is understood, achievable and completed.
  • Perform daily "Walk the line" quality audits to capture compliance to SOP's
  • Report any potential failure of orders to the warehouse manager & customer services before they happen.
  • Accurately record data for department KPI's including reasons for failure.
  • Ensure all customer shipments are dispatched within agreed time scales complete with all relevant documentation.
  • Ensure all supplier receipts are booked onto the system within agreed timescales and all documentation is filed appropriately.
  • Ensure all transfers to and from manufacturing are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Document, update and train the warehouse operations team on all appropriate SOPs with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Monitor and plan cross training within the team to ensure the whole team can perform all relevant distribution operations and the training matrix is up to date.
  • Ensure that query handling is resolved correctly and promptly, especially relating to:


Web queries
  • including all tracking requests, picking errors and personalization issues.
  • Customer queries including picking/packing errors, SLA failures, tracking issues etc.
  • Reporting changes to plan for both internal and external contacts as soon as notified.
  • Undertake any other tasks as defined by the line manager.
