Mental Health & Wellbeing Worker


Telford Mind have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mental Health & Wellbeing Worker, who is a highly motivated and efficient individual with the ability to work on their own but part of the operational team with good communication and interpersonal skills.


You will have experience of working in a similar role and happy to work in an organisation with an "all hands-on deck" approach.

Ideally, you will have a background in the not-for-profit sector.

Contract:

Fixed Term until May 2025

Hours of Work:

1 x 35 Hours post, Monday - Friday 9.00 am pm

Flexible working is required to cover weekends and evenings to suit the needs of the service. You must be able to cover Annual Leave/Sickness absences and any additional shifts across Telford Mind services.

Salary:

£11.44 per hour

Overview of Project:

Telford Mind are working in partnership on 'The Net' project.

The Net will be providing support services across Telford & Wrekin in order to ensure that people are able to access the support they need, when they need it.


The partnership which deliver The Net, consists of:

  • Stay as the lead agency, a local provider of housing and support.
  • Citizens Advice, which delivers financial advice.
  • Telford Mind which offers mental health support

Overview of Role:


Individuals who meet the threshold to access the service often suffer from poor mental health due to the practical challenges of their personal circumstances.

Whilst intensive support workers will be on hand to support individuals in overcoming these practical challenges, the Mental Health and Well-being Support Worker is on hand to provide recovery focussed 1:1 and specialist group workshop support, as well as support in the facilitation of group work and peer led activities.


You will be required to provide a solution focused support, ensuring that service users feel supported and listened to and helping them take control of their wellbeing.

Individuals should be given the opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental, confidential and safe manner.


You must be able to work on your own initiative and will need experience and qualifications relevant to the role and a desire to make a difference.

Access to your own vehicle is essential for this role.

Main Duties

Delivery

  • Provide low level mental health and wellbeing support to service users.
  • Deliver a service that is flexible, person centred, and provides service users with choice
  • Provide support with problem solving.
  • Deliver a range of direct interventions depending on individual needs including;
  • Emotional support including support to develop effective coping strategies (working therapeutically)
  • Support to better manage or improve mental and physical health
  • Support to regain or maintain relationships with friends and family
  • Support to develop more confidence and a greater ability to gain choice, control and responsibility in their lives
  • Support to engage with appropriate specialist support or advice services
  • Support to engage in community groups and activities, including activities which promote citizenship and involvement
  • Where necessary, signpost/actively refer to other service and agencies.
  • Use person centred approaches to assess and manage risk and vulnerability with the individual, in line with Telford Mind's policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with service users towards a planned end set of goals and their exit from the service
  • Gather and record progress and outcomes with individuals, using an agreed outcome measurement tool, electronic database/case management systems and qualitative data capture
  • Build relationships with staff in the organisation and project, attending relevant meetings, becoming part of the wider team, giving information and feedback on the service.
  • Seek regular feedback about the quality and impact of the service.
