**We are looking to recruit an enabler to provide support for the young man both at home and to access age-appropriate activities in the community in the Cramlington area.
The client has a diagnosis of autism and presents with a calm and kind nature. He does have some speech delay although he is verbal and can communicate his needs.

The young man does on occasions wear ear defenders where loud noises can occur but prefers to be without these.

He has some sensory concerns, but this is mainly around taste and smell. Some prompting with personal care may be required.

He is a kind and gentle young man who enjoys being outside and active.

He loves to walk in the woods, visit the beach and is a huge fan of water The young man enjoys visiting museums if the weather does not allow being outdoors.

Somebody keen to be active and outdoors would be preferred.

The young man has limited risk awareness and support to ensure his safety will be required.

The desired applicant will have at least TWO years experience supporting young people with autism and be a car driver with access to their own vehicle.

Hours

  • 5 hours per 4 weeks
  • Hours to be split over weekends, evenings and more flexibility required in the holidays. Hours will be agreed between employer and employee

Rate of pay
- £10.82 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.

Out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer.

  • Be able to respond patiently, positively, and sensitively to any changes in behaviour
  • Have a high degree of initiative
  • Be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised
  • Be flexible
  • Have a happy, positive and caring nature
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Car drivers is essential and must be insured for business use. Mileage will be paid in agreement with the employer.
